It’s official: The X-Files is coming back to TV and with its original FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). It will be a six-part series. The X-Files creator and executive producer Chris Carter, who’s also returning, said: “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
Since their X-Files days, Duchovny has been busy starring in Californication and Anderson has been shining in the BBC crime drama The Fall. She’s also starring in the soon-to-be-released British sci-fi film Robot Overlords with Sir Ben Kingsley. (When robots invade the Earth, human survivors including Anderson – a widow with young son – must stay in their homes or risk incineration.) When interviewed about the film, Anderson (now a mum of three) said of her Robot Overlords character: “You get a sense with this character that she knows she’s a good mother, and I wanted to explore that. The softer side of me, and a character that was different.”
