Bad news for anyone who wants to make a porn movie using the name Taylor Swift — not that we want to imagine such a thing, but I’m fairly sure it would feature a rather strident woman dissing her former lovers. The singer has bought the domains TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult to protect her name. Porn producers will be left with a Blank Space if they want to use Swift’s moniker. You don’t like the idea? Not her problem: Shake it off. Swift has taken advantage of a grace period offered by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. “Before June 1, a select group of people and companies, including trademarked brands, are getting first dibs on some of the more controversial domains. During this so-called ‘Sunrise period,’ which is mandated by ICANN, some brands have already taken advantage,” reports CNN.
It should be noted that TaylorSwift.sucks is still up for grabs. Just, you know, FYI. Swift isn’t the only one taking advantage of the offer. Microsoft has reportedly registered the domains Office.porn and Office.adult, although I am sure somebody out there has found a way around that and is already making a film called Exxxcel.
