The widly successful Italian fashion duo Dolce & Gabbana pissed off no less an eminence than pop star Elton John–and now John is pushing the #BoycottDolceGabbana movement. The fashion duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, were quoted in an Italian magazine as being against in-vitro fertilization, saying: “No chemical children: life has a natural course, there are things that shouldn’t be modified.” John views the comment as generally backwards and specifically discriminating against gay parents–he is one. John is also surprised at the source: Dolce and Gabbana are gay–and were once a couple.
John responded publicly: “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again.” Ouch, even a dig at their fashions. Anyway, the boycott should be easy for most people. Dolce & Gabbana is pretty expensive stuff.
