Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul, is gracing the set of American Idol. Which song she’s going to sing is being kept under Ryan Seacrest wraps. We predict it’ll be one of her most famous songs like “Respect” or “Think” or “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Idol contestants have a lot to learn from Ms. Franklin. Not only can she sing like nobody else but she’s adaptable and at 72 is still relevant.
If you want proof you can look up her 112 charted singles on Billboard, check out her 18 Grammys, or watch her sing the operatic aria, “Nessun Dorma” (below) when she stepped in for Luciano Pavarotti at the 1998 Grammys. Btw, Ms. Franklin released her first album, “Songs of Faith,” when she was just 14 – that would have made the Queen, still just a Princess of Soul, ineligible to compete on American Idol. She’ll appear on American Idol, Wednesday, March 4 at 8pm on Fox.
