Hunter Taran Larsen is the 20-year-old blonde from Malibu, California who on American Idol won everyone’s hearts with her version of Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.” She’s a multi-talented young woman. During the day, she juggles three jobs: she’s a hostess at a restaurant, a nanny for a family, and she helps out in a flower shop.
At night she sings with the shredding LA local rock band The Nukes. The band’s website claims that Hunter “has perfect pitch and a four-octave range.” That’s right, four. Other female professional singers with a four-octave vocal range include the late Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Cyndi Lauper, and Jill Scott. Oh, and Hunter was once a member of the Fresno Grand Opera as a first soprano for two years. Hey, if you can make Sinatra sound new and gritty, you’ve got range.
