Sylvester Stallone (aka Rocky Balboa) will be returning to the City of Brotherly Love to play Rocky for the seventh time in Creed. Stallone will play the trainer and mentor of Apollo Creed’s grandson who will be played by Michael B. Jordan.
Stallone is passing the Rocky screenwriting and directing torch to 28-year-old, African American filmmaker Ryan Coogler. Coogler won accolades for his 2013 film Fruitvale Station, the true story of 22-year-old Oscar Grant III who was shot down in Oakland, California in 2008. Michael B. Jordan portrayed Grant.
