Tyra Banks, creator and host of the TV competition show America’s Next Top Model is being sued by Angelea Preston, a season 17 contestant whose personality was dubbed on the show “girl from the hood.” (She’s from Buffalo, New York.) Preston says she was “wrongfully denied the show’s grand prize” due to her past as an escort. Preston is now seeking at least $3 million for a breach-of-contract. Preston won the title/competition in 2011 but was reportedly never given the prizes including a $100,00 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics and a magazine fashion spread.
The CW, the network that airs the show and is also named in the lawsuit, says “information about Angelea [her working as an escort] was learned after production” which “lead to her disqualification from the competition.” So they agree on that part.
