Actor Edward Herrmann, best known for portrayal of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his role as Richard Gilmore in Gilmore Girls, died on December 31, at the age of 71.
Not only was Herrmann a spokesman for Dodge automobiles in the 1990s, but he was a well-known automotive enthusiast. (Just like FDR.) Herrmann was a regular master of ceremonies for the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show. He hosted the TV show Automobiles on The History Channel and liked to restore his own classic automobiles, including his 1929 Auburn 8-90 Boattail Speedster and a 1934 Alvis Speed 20.
