NumberFire is a bunch of data experts who love sports. They spend all day grinding on percentages and stats and sometimes–just like the Congressional Budget Office–some of that data tells a sad story. The NBA’s saddest case this year is the Philadelphia 76ers, the once proud franchise of Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J, Moses Malone and Allen Iverson. The Sixers are 0-13 so far this season.
NumberFire has looked at how the rest of the season should play out for Philly and determined that the 76ers aren’t favored to win a single game. That doesn’t mean they won’t win–predictive analysis is fallible (see Long Term Capital)–but the odds are long. How times change. The best chance (44.6%) the 76ers have of getting a win is a home game to be played on March 30–against the Lakers!
