Reality TV star Bethenny Frankel is returning to the show that launched her career, The Real Housewives of New York. It’s been four years since she left the show, got married to Jason Hoppy, had a baby girl (Bryn), and got divorced. Through it all she’s marketed her low-calorie alcoholic cocktail line Skinnygirl. Although her self-titled daytime talk show, Bethenny, was cancelled in February, that doesn’t mean she can’t draw in viewers as a cast member of the catty clutch of tony Manhattanites.
RHONY producers hope Bethenny will boost ratings (last season the show dropped from 2.6 million to 1 million). They’re betting that Bethenny’s return, along with the demotion of Ramona Singer (the wide-eyed divorcee) and ditching of the prosthetic leg throwing Aviva Drescher, will spice up the drama. Die-hard RHONY fans (kinda of) hope Bethenny’s longtime rival Kelly Bensimon returns, too!
