Kristen Stewart is taking a break from acting. Having made seven films in two years, she has decided to stop looking at scripts for while. “I’m going to take so much time off,” she tells USA Today. “I’m going to buy a live-work space in downtown L.A. and I’m going to make some (stuff) with my hands. Literally, I made that decision a few weeks ago. I’m making a short film. I’m making a bunch of (stuff). I don’t know how I’ll put it out. But I’m not going to hold it so preciously close to me. I write all the time.”
As Vanity Fair notes, “It takes a lot of guts to walk away from an industry when you’re riding a wave of success. And with all the critical acclaim that’s been pouring in for the actress’s recent films like Clouds of Sils Maria and Camp X-Ray, things are definitely coming up Stewart. So if this break doesn’t come from a desire to escape or hide, where does it come from? It seems Stewart is approaching this break from a healthy place of self-care.” Indeed. The actress is happy. Not just happy. Really happy. Overly happy. “I’m really happy right now, overly happy. I’m definitely not looking furtively—I like to look around at (stuff). I feel great. I’m not overcoming fear right now. Now, I really have no apprehension about anything, which is great. I can get behind all of my creative endeavors more so than ever before. I’m super happy and challenged and inspired and relaxed.” We’re glad she’s feeling so positive. Maybe she’ll even start smiling.
