Former star of The Biggest Loser Jillian Michaels was recently interviewed by Health magazine. When she opened up about being gay–she has two children with partner Heidi Rhoades–she said: “Look, I wish I had some strapping football player husband. It would be such a dream to be ‘normal’ like that, but I’m just not.”
Some people in the LGBT community found her comments insulting. Michaels apologized in a statement published by People magazine: “I was saying if along the way in my life that had been a choice I would have made it, but it’s not who I am. Gay is not a choice. If I was ashamed of who I am, I would be in the closet.” Michaels’ wife Rhoades doesn’t seem bothered by the football player comment. Just this week, Rhoades tweeted: “I have the best wife ever. @jillianmichaels brought me homemade whoopie pies straight from PA.”
