After 21 years of playing Sami on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, Alison Sweeney is leaving the show. In January, Sweeney told Ellen DeGeneres that she was leaving to spend more time with her family and keep working on her other show – she’s the host on The Biggest Loser. Her last appearance on Days will be October 29.
Sweeney fans who like to read hope she’ll return to writing. Her first novel, The Star Attraction, was released in 2013. Her second Scared Scriptless: A Novel, which came out this June, is about a script supervisor on a hit TV show who hates “Hollywood.” Kirkus Reviews wrote: “With a loveable heroine and industry gossip, Sweeney’s latest goes behind the scenes and straight to the heart.”
