Nervous Barbra Streisand Eats Prunes Before Jimmy Fallon

Barbra Streisand’s latest album, Partners (duets of her old songs with singers including John Legend, Lionel Richie, John Mayer and Stevie Wonder, among others), is making the diva do the unexpected. This summer she joined Instagram and tonight she’ll make a very rare appearance on TV. She’ll be the one and only guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (September 15). A hilarious duet with Fallon is undoubtedly in the works, which Streisand’s people expect will produce a viral sensation and boost sales of Partners —which will be released the day after, September 16.

So how does Babs, who has a fear of performing live, prepare for live TV? Jacob Bernstein of The New York Times discovered Streisand at the home of her friend, fashion designer Donna Karan, in East Hampton, New York, this weekend. With her new Coton de Tulear dog Sammie (the one photographed with her on the Partners album), Streisand was eating cucumber sandwiches and sliced prunes. It’s rumored Fallon ate the same thing all weekend, just to be prepared.
