MSN posted a slideshow of photos revealing the women who are participating in the 2015 Miss America competition. All of the contestants are featured but one photo in particular has been used to promote the slideshow – a headshot of the lovely Miss Alabama, Caitlin Brunell. Now her photo could have been chosen simply due to alphabetically order, Alabama being the first. But will that kind of media placement work to her advantage, to win the crown? Americans were invited to vote for “America’s Choice” which would guarantee a contestant a place at the finals. (Voting is now closed.)
Alabama has won three Miss America titles: Deidre Downs in 2005; Heather Whitestone (the first deaf woman to win the Miss America crown) in 1994; and Yolande Betbeze in 1951 (she was the one who refused to pose in a swimsuit).
