There are different kinds of “America’s Sweethearts” but the kind who spends all her time with fictional supernerds is just more endearing than the kind who dates famous baseball players. So people are naturally a bit more protective of Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory than they are of Kate Upton, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model who dates MLB star Justin Verlander. Both these women are beloved in America.
But when it comes to the scandal of having nude photos leaked in The Fappening–it seems less fair that a photo (and allegedly video) of Kaley Cuoco got out than it does for Kate Upton. The Cuoco leak feels more like an invasion of privacy. After all, what more is there to show of the magnificent Upton she hasn’t willingly displayed? Yes, there is a big difference between modeling in next-to-nothing for magazines and taking naked selfies in the bathroom–in quality and expectations both–but it’s just less shocking to hear that you can find a picture of Kate Upton naked online. Cuoco’s leak is producing some funny tweets, but fans are saying “nooooo, not Kaley Cuoco.” That’s going too far.
