Country legend Willie Nelson graces the cover of Rolling Stone this month. Nelson’s last cover was in July 1978. Associate editor Patrick Doyle interviewed Nelson about his life (he’s 81-years-old!), music, taxes, weed, and all the times he’s been arrested for possession. Nelson said: “Jesus said one time that it’s not what you put in your mouth, it’s what comes out of your mouth. I saw the other day that [medical] weed is legal in Israel – there’ an old-folks home there, and all these old men were walking around with bongs and shit. Fuck! They got it figured out before we did!”
Later this year, a pair of Nelson’s iconic braids, which were given to the late country singer Waylon Jennings (“Good Hearted Woman”), will be up for auction at Guernsey’s. The New York Times reports the braids were given to Jennings at a 1983 party in honor of Jennings’ sobriety.
