Meryl Streep and Rick Springfield are getting ready to make music together. The veteran actress and veteran musician will team up in the new movie, Ricki and the Flash. Written by Diablo Cody and to be directed by Jonathan Demme, the movie centers on Ricki, a rock n’ roll loving woman (Streep) who chased her musical dreams at the price of her family, but is given one last chance to, perhaps, make things right. Springfield will play a band member who has a crush on Ricki.
This isn’t Springfield’s first acting gig. He has appeared in General Hospital and Californication. The rocker has penned hits like “Don’t Talk To Strangers”, “Affair of the Heart”, and “Jessie’s Girl” (which featured in an unforgettable scene in Boogie Nights). Streep is learning guitar for the movie, which will also star Streep’s Sophie’s Choice co-star Kevin Kline, and her daughter Maimie Gummer.
