NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is being wooed by Leonard Yankelovich, owner of the Latvian armored car company, Dartz Motorz. Rodman and Yankelovich have been photographed partying together–smoking cigars, drinking lots of vodka (which is unfortunate as Rodman has been in and out of rehab for alcoholism). While partying, Yankelovich has promised Rodman a Dartz. Dartz is looking for an American attache who can live up to the brand’s “bad boy” image. Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator) declined, even though Cohen did use a Dartz in the film.
Dartz Motorz has been a supplier of luxury coaches for tzars, admirals, generals and dictators since 1869. Of course there was a gap in production from 1922 to 1988. According to dartz.us: “As soon as Gorby allowed Soviet people to make private business again, DARTZ opened again.” Since then, the car company has presented armored vehicles to royalty including Monaco’s HRH Prince Albert II (in 2009), and given celebrities like tennis millionaire Marat Safin and the original James Bond, Roger Moore, test drives. Dartz Motors got an order from China for 100 cars. Perhaps Rodman can get a similar order from his powerful friends in North Korea.
