Stay With Me singer Sam Smith is in talks with MGM about recording the theme song for the next James Bond film (working title–Bond 24). The Sun reports that Smith is “the lead pick” for Daniel Craig’s fourth blockbuster as Bond, scheduled for a November 2015 release in the States. But he wasn’t their first pick.
Adele passed on the opportunity before Smith was asked. The chanteuse wrote the theme song Skyfall for the 2012 Bond film of the same title, which was the first Bond theme to win at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards (she performed the song live at the 85th Academy Awards). It took her just 10 minutes to write Skyfall. So why not write another? Adele just won a lawsuit against Corbis for taking photos of her two-year-old son–maybe she wants to avoid the limelight for a while?
