The script to The Fantastic Four movie (to be released June 2015) is shrouded in secrecy–only the NSA knows the details for sure. But during an interview, actress Kate Mara (who plays Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman) said director Josh Trank told her not to bother about reading The Fantastic Four comic books “because the plot won’t be based on any history of anything already published.” Even though it makes good business sense – The Fantastic Four comic books are not a big seller for Marvel – die-hard fans aren’t happy to hear the news. And you can bet your cosmic rays that they’re going to find out what in hell’s going on at the San Diego Comic-Con International on July 25, when the “special” Fantastic Four panel convenes. All five leads–Kate Mara, Jamie Bell (The Thing), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch), Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic) and Toby Kebbell (Doctor Doom)– will be on stage.
Trank will be directing the same cast for The Fantastic Four 2, to be released July 2017. That won’t be based on the comics either.
