January “Jani” Schofield was diagnosed with childhood onset schizophrenia when she was six years old. At the age of 11 she was the subject of the documentary Born Schizophrenic: Jani & Bodhi’s Journey. Bodhi is her 6-year-old brother who has been diagnosed with autism. Their parents, Michael and Susan Schofield, are concerned that he, too, is showing signs of schizophrenia.

Since the documentary was made, Michael Schofield announced that he and his wife are divorcing. Michael wrote on the Jani Foundation blog: “I wish I still loved their mother (Susan). I really do. I wish to God I could still feel for Susan what I felt when it was just us, before Bohdhi, before January, before anyone knew who the fuck we were.” Born Schizophrenic: Jani & Bodhi’s Journey will air on TLC on April 4 at 7pm, 8pm and 11pm.
