You’ll have to wait until May 6, 2016 but the first glimpse of Captain America: Civil War dropped and it puts the Marvel in marvelous. That is, it looks fantastic and exciting, even if little is actually revealed about what will go down in May. Captain America (Chris Evans) is putting the screws to his old pal Bucky Barnes. But it’s Iron Man who’ll battle against Captain America and Bucky. Marvel is thrusting its big characters into big antagonism situations and the inevitable high stakes have fanboys and more casual viewers geeked up about the outcomes.
The trailer is a cornucopia of stars, with Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff delivering the most pungent line. William Hurt makes a grave, powerful impression — Hurt’s conspicuous and highly original monotone charisma commands the screen. (Hurt’s General Ross won fans over in The Incredible Hulk.) Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman and Jeremy Renner all all here in a mere 2:26. (War Machine, Scarlett Witch, Black Panther, Hawkeye.) Note: James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes — aka The Winter Soldier — premiered in Captain America Comics #1 way back in 1941, when the US was just entering the second World War.
