It was our wedding day and we stopped at the state liquor store on our way back. We still had an hour and a half before work. After work the liquor store would be closed and then you could buy beer or wine at the grocery store but you couldn’t buy anything else. I had drank until I turned twenty-one and then I had stopped drinking. Jared only drank beer and wine when there was nothing else to drink.
It was the seventeenth of May and I was wearing flip flops. The store manager watched us walk through the door and around the store. There wasn’t a ton of foot traffic at two in the afternoon. Mostly people stopped on their lunch hours or on their way home from work.
