Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs of The New York Times is reporting from Miami, outside the federal courthouse where former President Donald Trump has been booked. Bogel-Burroughs reports that the Mayor of Miami, Francis X. Suarez, showed up at the courthouse wearing a Miami Police Department polo shirt and “hugged several Trump supporters before shaking hands with a line of officers.”
Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez of Miami, a Republican who is mulling his own presidential bid, arrived and hugged several Trump supporters before shaking hands with cops. "Up til now, it's a peaceful demonstration for people exercising their Constitutional rights," he told me. pic.twitter.com/CHhloxYpxA

It has been reported that Suarez, who is serving his second term as Mayor of Miami, is also considering running for President of the United States. (He was re-elected as Mayor in November 2021.)
Bogel-Burroughs added that after a few minutes Mr. Suarez was heckled by some of the Trump supporters who shouted familiar conspiracy theories at the mayor. Miami police officers then moved between the mayor and the hecklers to intervene.
This about sums up the scene so far outside of the federal courthouse in Miami where former President Donald J. Trump is set to appear at 3pm to face federal criminal charges.

With the video above, Bogel-Burroughs describes the scene outside of the courthouse as “a circuslike atmosphere.”
