Taylor Swift is none too kind to men in general in her latest video, which calls foul on all the worst stereotypes of ego-driven masculinity. “The Man” takes aim at everything from short-tempered fits to paternalistic narcissism to man-spreading and more.
But if you look past the generalizations, Taylor Swift still loves certain men — those that don’t conform to this regrettable class of entitled masculinity. For example, Taylor is super proud of her own dad — Scott Kingsley Swift — who makes “his acting debut” in the video. Who is he in the video? Taylor says that dad’s debut “as ‘unimpressed umpire’ is a memory I’ll always cherish.”
Taylor Swift makes her directorial debut here too, joining her father in marking firsts. The Rock, btw, is the voice of The Man. Taylor likes that man too! BTW: Before he turned to acting, Scott Kingsley Swift was a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch!
