On Season 17 of The Voice, with the Blind Auditions coming to an end, the coaches get ready for the Battle Round. Each coach gets to invite a mentor to help prepare their artists for the dueling duets. Blake Shelton introduces his team to Darius Rucker, former lead singer of the pop/rock band Hootie & the Blowfish.
In 2008, Rucker made the leap from rock to country music with the encouragement of his wife of 19 years, Beth Leonard. Since making the transition, Rucker has released six Number 1 country singles and five albums.
Remembering his days “drinking and partying as hard as I was” while touring with Hootie & the Blowish, Rucker says, “You know, her and country music saved my life.”
Rucker is father of three children, see photo below. [Related: Darius Rucker Named Daughter After NFL’s Dan Marino]
