Superstar Ariana Grande still feels like she’s swallowing a cactus, but she says she’s making progress — albeit the slow kind. She’s going to make it up to audiences in Orlando and Tampa in November, she promises. (A long time to wait for her biggest fans, but the time, like summer, will go by in a flash.) What happened to the singer’s throat? “we discovered ….. that ….. i had an unfortunate allergic reaction to tomatoes and my throat pretty much closed,” she writes.

Grande takes the situation in good humor, as is her custom. But she doesn’t shy away from the ALL CAPS when she writes her biggest lament: “NOTHING MORE UNFAIR THAN AN ITALIAN WOMAN DEVELOPING AN ALLERGY TO TOMATOES IN HER MID TWENTIES.” That does seem like a mean thing for the world to throw at anyone, let alone someone of Italian ancestry who knows her marinara sauce. But maybe Grande is just out to prove that no life — not even hers — is without trials. Because there really is no substitute for tomato sauce. None. Zip. Good news is sometimes allergies are temporary…
