In the NCIS: New Orleans episode “X”, a Navy entomologist disappears after a deadly shooting at a research lab. When the team discovers that a rare and deadly virus was also stolen, Inspector Nero of the Louisiana Department of Health, with Naval Intelligence, joins the NCIS investigation. Nero butts heads with M.E. Wade (CCH Pounder) when he visits her lab. He claims she’s breaking at least five health codes and insists that he never makes mistakes.
Health Inspector Nero on NCIS is portrayed by LeVar Burton. The 3x-Emmy Award nominee is known for his roles on Perception (Paul Haley), Star Trek: The Next Generation (Lt. Cmdr. Geordi La Forge), in the 1977 TV mini-series Roots (Kunta Kinte), and as the host of children’s show Reading Rainbow, among others.
