In the Single Parents episode “All Aboard the Two-Parent Struggle Bus,” it’s Sophie’s (Marlow Barkley) birthday and at her party Will’s (Taran Killam) ex Mia shows up unexpectedly. When Mia the humanitarian undermines Will’s rules with their daughter, he turns to Angie (Leighton Meester) for advice — but she’s not the best advice giver. Meanwhile, Miggy (Jake Choi) and Graham (Tyler Wladis) are so inspired by Mia’s humanitarian work that they give some of their things to charity. Of course, they quickly regret it and want to find a way to get their stuff back.

Will’s ex-wife Mia is portrayed by actress Vanessa Bayer. The Emmy nominee is known for her roles on Saturday Night Live (Bayer and Killam joined SNL the same season in 2010) and in the movies Office Christmas Party (Allison) and Trainwreck (Nikki, SEE LINK ABOVE) among others.
Bayer will appear next on the big screen in the Showtime movie Big Deal where she plays a woman who has overcome childhood leukemia and “is achieving her dream of becoming an on-air host at a home shopping network.” Bayer co-wrote the script and really did overcome the disease (she was diagnosed in high school.) Single Parents airs Wednesdays at 9:30 pm on ABC, right after Modern Family and right before Match Game.
