In The Conners episode “It’s Man vs. Machine,” Dan (John Goodman) gets injured while covering his son D.J.’s (Michael Fishman) vending machine route. With his arm in a sling, Dan struggles to pay his hospital bills. That’s when accident lawyer Brian Foster (Peter Gallagher, American Beauty) shows up at the house. (Darlene called him.) Brian encourages Dan to sue the company, which will likely deliver a six-figure settlement but it will also mean DJ is out of a job.

The owner of the vending machine company is portrayed by Phil Hendrie. The veteran voice-over artist is known for his off-camera roles on F Is for Family (Jim Jeffords), Rick and Morty (Principal Vagina), Napoleon Dynamite (Old Owl Judge), King of the Hill, and Futurama, among others. On camera, Hendrie is recognized for his roles on New Girl (Joe Napoli), The Unit (George Talelman), and Teachers (cynical history teacher Dick Green). He’s also the host of The Phil Hendrie Show, a comedy radio talk show that’s been on the air waves since 1990. The Conners airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on ABC, right before The Kids Are Alright.
