Vibes is a line of high-fidelity earplugs designed specifically for live music. The founder of Vibes, 29-year-old Jackson Mann of Minneapolis, Minnesota, came up with a prototype after he ruptured his eardrum at a concert in 2014. Vibes reduce damaging decibel levels by up to 22 decibels. Unlike noise cancelling earplugs, Vibes filters lower volume without affecting sound fidelity. Mann pitched his business on Shark Tank in January 2017. He went into the Tank seeking an investment of $100,000 in exchange for 20 percent equity. He received an offer of $100,000 from Kevin O’Leary (for 35% and a $2 royalty) but declined and walked away with a deal.
Vibes is still sold online including at Amazon where the product continues to get 5-star reviews. (SEE LINK ABOVE) And at the end of 2018, Mann reports that Vibes hit the $2 million mark in sales. Now Vibes is giving back: for every pair of Vibes reusable earplugs ($23.99) purchased, a contribution is given to Hear the World Foundation. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
