On the My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding episode “Sisters Don’t Marry Each Other’s Ex-Husbands,” 20-year-old Maison Lovell, who is a full-blooded Romanichal Gypsy, is engaged to Karen, his ex-wife Melissa’s little sister. Just two weeks into his marriage with Melissa, Maison found that he preferred Melissa’s sister Karen. “That didn’t really work out too well,” says Maison. He also accuses Melissa of “running around behind my back.” He explains, “She was never home, and I didn’t appreciate that. That’s not what a Romanichal girl does. She was just dirty in every way,” he says. It was Karen who told Maison what Melissa was doing behind his back.

Fast forward two-and-a-half years later and now Maison and Karen are about to get married. Karen says, “I love Maison more than anything.” And Maison says he’s found “the love of my life. I’ve found my angel.” He adds, “She’s my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.” He loves Karen because “she never leaves my side.” My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding airs Saturdays at 10 pm on TLC.
Note: After filming this My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding episode, in March 2018, Lovell was sentenced to the maximum 12 months in jail after pleading guilty to grand theft in the swindling of an 82-year-old woman in Marion County, Ohio. Judge Frank Fregiato said at Lovell’s sentencing: “This is the defendant’s business. This is his trade. He goes around, talks to older individuals, scams them out of money for a driveway sealing scheme… This defendant is incarcerated for a prior scam. My sentence will not start until that sentence is complete.” Lovell is in jail until next May 2019 on previous charges. He will then be brought back to Belmont County to begin serving this 12-month sentence.
