In the Lethal Weapon episode “A Whole Lotto Trouble,” Cole (Seann William Scott) and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr.) work together to break up a gang running a lottery scam. When not chasing down the bad guys, Murtaugh prepares to celebrate his 30th year on the job when he gets a surprise visit from his competitive father-in-law Don Bennett.
Murtaugh’s father Don Bennett is portrayed by Richard Roundtree. The veteran actor is best known for his role as John Shaft in the Shaft movies and TV series — see link above. Roundtree is also recognized for his roles on Star (Charles Floyd, see below), Being Mary Jane (Paul Patterson, Sr.), Chicago Fire (Boden’s dad), Heroes (Charles Deveaux), Desperate Housewives (Mr. Shaw), and Roc (Russell Emerson), among many others. Lethal Weapon airs Tuesdays at 9pm on FOX, right after The Gifted.
