After comedian Roseanne Barr was kicked off her own reboot, Roseanne, ABC is picking up the pieces and continuing on with The Conners. In the first episode without Roseanne, “Keep on Truckin’”, the family “face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before.” Also, DJ’s (Michael Fishman) wife and Mary’s mother, Geena Williams-Conner, is back from active duty overseas in Afghanistan. Her military-style discipline will shake up the Conners’ laissez-faire attitude.

DJ’s wife Geena Williams-Conner is portrayed by Maya Lynne Robinson. She’s known for her roles on Mom (Amanda) and in the film Dead Women Walking, in which she played a woman on death row. Robinson is also a self-published poet.
