One of the most memorable acts competing on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent is stand-up comedian Samuel J. Comroe. The 30-year-old incorporates his Tourette Syndrome symptoms and stories into his act, as well as his marriage and baby daughter. His act reminded some AGT fans of Drew Lynch, the stand-up comedian who incorporated his stuttering into his act on America’s Got Talent, Season 10 (2015). Drew was named AGT runner-up that season; British comedian/ventriloquist Paul Zerdin won.

Hours before Comroe gets to perform one more time at the Dolby Theater, before the winner of AGT Season 13 is announced, he took to social media to explain what his past three years have been like. Without mentioning Lynch by name, Comroe says that in 2015, “the guy I got into stand up comedy and took on tour with me because he was going through tough times and my manager who I convinced to represent him turned their backs on me.” He made it to the finals of AGT and “they had a meeting where they decided they didn’t need me anymore. They cancelled our tour and threw me to the side.” In 2015, Lynch was interviewed about his recent success and said, “It was really because of him (Samuel Comroe) that I was even able to consider this as a possibility.” Their manager, Barbara Holliday, was also interviewed. She said she encouraged Comroe to talk about his Tourette syndrome in his act and Comroe passed on that knowledge to Lynch. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC. The live finale airs Wednesday, September 19 at 8pm.
