Country singer Brody Ray is competing on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent. The young man originally from Kearney, Nebraska is currently living in Nashville, Tennessee trying to make it in Music City. As Brody writes on his website, his life “started out different from most.” Brody was born female. During his senior year at college (University of Nebraska at Kearney), he dropped out and started his transition to male. In 2011, the TLC docu-series Strange Sex featured Brody (aka Nat) while he was going through his physical and emotional transformation. The episode was “Right Guy, Wrong Body.” On the episode (see link below), Brody/Nat talks about the risks involved in getting the four bottom surgeries he wanted at the time, and which he eventually did get, in Belgrade, Serbia.

Brody says right after the episode aired, he lost his voice while his body was adjusting to the weekly testosterone injections. But after a lot of hard work, Brody was able to recover his singing ability and sings with a deeper “more manly voice.” What do you think of Brody Ray‘s voice?
