In the Season 9 finale of Modern Family, “Clash of Swords,” Gloria (Sofia Vergara) plans a dinosaur party for Joe and gets upstaged by her nemesis Dr. Donna Duncan (guest star Jane Krakowski). Meanwhile, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) sneaks out to “Hero-Con” with fanboy Phil (Ty Burrell). They’re dressed as their favorite characters from the show “Clash of Swords.” Leave it to Phil to commit the ultimate fan faux pas. At the conference they meet Nick. Nick is portrayed by Ben Schwartz.
The improv comedian is known for his roles on House of Lies (Clyde Oberholt), Comedy Bang! Bang! (Rodney Wayber), and Parks and Recreation (Jean-Ralphio), among others. Fun fact: Schwartz won a Primetime Emmy for his role as early morning TV talk show host Josh Bath on The Earliest Show (with Lauren Lapkus). Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9pm on ABC, right after The Goldbergs and right before American Housewife.
