In the Scorpion episode “Dork Day Afternoon”, Team Scorpion inadvertently crashes a bank robbery in progress and is taken hostage. Good thing Agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick) is around to get them out of the sticky situation. Cabe works with Police Captain Pete Kavanaugh to release the hostages. (The episode name comes from the riveting Al Pacino classic, Dog Day Afternoon.)
Captain Kavanaugh is portrayed by Dwight Hicks. Before becoming an actor, Hicks was a professional football player, mostly with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers (1979-1985). In 1981 Hicks played a pivotal role in the 49ers first Super Bowl victory. In 1984, Hicks and the Niners won Super Bowl XIX. Before the NFL, Hicks played college football at the University of Michigan. Hicks made his acting debut in the 1996 film The Rock as FBI Agent Star. Scorpion airs Mondays at 10pm on CBS, right after Living Biblically.
