In the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “Flight Risk,” airline pilot Tara (Yasmine Al Massri, Quantico) accuses another pilot, Captain Carter, of sexual assault. But the airline company Optimum Air turned a blind eye to the complaint and put Tara in a cockpit with her rapist. Tara retaliated by locking the captain out of the cockpit and taking over the plane. While she’s accused of being a terrorist, she says she just needed to land the plane “to get the hell out.”
Captain Carter is portrayed by Martin Donovan. He’s known for his roles on Weeds (Peter Scottson), and in the films Ant-Man (Mitchell Carson), The Portrait of a Lady (Ralph Touchett), Inherent Vice, and several Hal Hartley films including The Opposite of Sex (Bill Truitt), among others. Donovan will appear next on the big screen in Fahrenheit 451 with Michael Shannon and Michael B. Jordan (as Commander Nyari). Law & Order: Special Victims Unit airs Wednesdays at 9pm on NBC, right before Chicago P.D.
