In the American Housewife episode “Family Secrets,” Greg Otto (Diedrich Bader) tries to impress his parents Thomas and Amanda who are in town for Thanksgiving. But Greg’s plans for a special dinner get thrown out the window when Katie’s (Katy Mixon) mother Kathryn (guest star Wendie Malick) shows up unannounced.
Greg’s mother Amanda is portrayed by Julia Duffy. (Greg’s father Thomas is portrayed by Barry Bostwick.) Duffy is known for her roles on Shameless (Candace Lishman), Reba (Mrs. Hodge), The Mommies (Barb Ballantine), Designing Women (Allison Sugarbaker), Baby Talk (Maggie Campbell), Newhart (Stephanie Vanderkellen), and The Doctors (Penny Davis), among others. American Housewife airs Wednesdays at 9:30pm on ABC, right after Modern Family, and right before Designated Survivor.
