In the Season 5, two-hour premiere of Vikings, the Vikings continue to threaten the heart of England. Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) presses forward with the Great Heathen Army as Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) reigns as Queen of Kattegat. Revenge will play a major role this season as Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) sons avenge their father’s death. (Ivar killed him.) Bloody battles will ensure, as usual on Vikings.
One of the most interesting story lines follows ship builder and religious zealot Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) who “takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods” after losing his wife Helga (Maude Hirst). In Season 5, Floki feels like he’s lost everything. And his bond with Ivar, whom he raised, will be tested. Ivar doesn’t want Floki to go. Floki is Ivar’s only true friend. Without Floki, Ivar will go to some dark places. “There is a beast within Ivar,” says actor Skarsgård. See sneak peek below. Vikings airs Wednesdays at 9pm on History Channel.
