Chief Sam Mullins is portrayed by John Gatins. The Vassar grad is best known as a writer in Hollywood. His screenplay for the 2012 film Flight starring Denzel Washington (see link above) was nominated for an Oscar. Other films he wrote include Kong: Skull Island starring Tom Hiddleston, Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul, Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman, and Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson. Chicago Fire airs Thursdays at 10pm on NBC.
