In the Grey’s Anatomy episode “Danger Zone,” the details regarding Megan Hunt’s (guest star Abigail Spencer, Timeless) kidnapping ten years ago are revealed in a flashback. It’s 2007 in Iraq, and Megan is there with big brother Owen (Kevin McKidd), Teddy (guest star Kim Raver), and Nathan (Martin Henderson). While wearing fatigues, they tend to patients and Nathan proposes to Megan before she gets on the helicopter. In present day, siblings Owen and Megan hash out old wounds.
[Danger Zone was featured in Top Gun]
The only thing missing from the episode is the actual song “Danger Zone.” The dramatic 1985 hit by Kenny Loggins was featured in the patriotic top-grossing fly-boy film Top Gun starring Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards (who went on to play Dr. Mark Greene on ER), and Val Kilmer (who went on to play Mark Twain on stage.) Oh and Cruise did some things after Top Gun too, that’s true. People became fighter pilots because of Loggins’s “Danger Zone” song. At least that’s what one guy wrote on YouTube. The 69-year-year old Loggins is still rocking, btw. Now if Grey’s Anatomy does an episode entitled “Footloose” and leaves Loggins out, well there is really just no excuse for that. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
