Country Singer Trace Adkins will sing his new hit “Still a Soldier” at the Fourth of July televised celebration on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. It’s not his first time on TV, and yes, he knows President Donald Trump. The country singer appeared on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice show in 2008, and came in second, losing to Piers Morgan. He also appeared on The All-Star Celebrity Apprentice in 2013 and didn’t just win but also broke the record for the highest amount of money raised for his charity (American Red Cross), $1,524,072.

Prior to his 2017 Fourth of July performance, Adkins told Taste of Country, “The Fourth of July is all about declaring our independence. We don’t depend on anybody else in this world. We make our own way and we have our own freedom, and it is not subject to anybody or anything.” A Capitol Fourth will air on July 4 at 8pm on PBS.
