As the story of the various connections between the Trump family, its businesses, and Russian entities continues to captivate the public, it’s Trump’s connection to Russia through the Miss Universe Pageant that provides some of the most visible connective tissue. (Trump owned the pageant until 2015.) Below is a video that features Donald Trump “firing” Emin Agalarov, the Russian pop star after catching him daydreaming. (Emin is a single-name sensation in Russia, like Prince or Cher.) Trump and Emin worked together on the Moscow Miss Universe show. The pop dance video also prominently features Miss Universe contestants in swimsuits as a backdrop.
Emin’s father Aras Agalarov is, like Trump, a real estate mogul, according to the New York Times, which reports that the senior Agalarov is “sometimes called the ‘Donald Trump of Russia.’ ”
