Snail humming, though you may not have heard of it, is a real thing — and much debated! Although marine biologist Dr. Luke Miller of San Jose State University told the New York Times he is “not sure that humming is actually required” to get a snail to peek it’s slimy head out (it’s more likely “handling them that prompts them to come out and put their foot down”), Rhys’ snail whisperer mentor/mother Tina has been doing it for years. In a FaceTime interview with her local NBC TV station WCSH, she said: “A lot of people don’t know about it,” said Tina. “We grew up thinking that was normal. When we teach everybody, they’re like no way!” Little Big Shots airs Sundays at 7pm and 8pm on NBC.
