Brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez murdered their parents Jose Menendez and his wife Mary “Kitty” Menendez in their Beverly Hills mansion in August 1989. (Lyle was 21; Erik was 18.) Both were found guilty and sentenced to two consecutive life-prison terms with parole. They are serving their time in separate prisons. But prisons haven’t stopped their contact with the outside world. Both Menendez brother have gotten married while in prison.
Lyle Menendez married former model Anna Eriksson in 1996. (She once posed in a special issue of Playboy). After watching Lyle’s trial on TV, Eriksson started a correspondence with him. They divorced in 2001. In 2003 Lyle married magazine editor-turned-lawyer Rebecca Sneed, his current wife. Lyle Menendez is serving his life sentence in Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California.
Erik Menendez married Tammi Ruth Saccoman in 1999. She too started writing letters to Erik after watching his first trial on TV. She is the author of They Said We’d Never Make It: My Life With Erik Menendez. Erik is serving his life sentence at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, also home to Sirhan Sirhan who was convicted of the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.
