In the series premiere episode of Tiny House Nation: Family Edition, Darren and Melody Mike of Nebraska ask John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin to help create a two-trailer, 688 square-foot tiny house for their family of six. Darren and Melody are the parents of four children: Carter, 14, McKenzie, 6, Trinity, 4, and Joey, 2. After selling their house, the Mike family moved into their 34-foot RV which they parked at their church until a neighbor complained. When they began filming Tiny House Nation: Family Edition, the Mikes were living in a two-bedroom apartment above the church.

After the show, the family lived the tiny life for six weeks before zoning problems became a problem and they were told to vacate the land. According to Omaha.com, the Mikes are currently living in Omaha helping a friend renovate a four-bedroom house. They hope to return to the Tiny House lifestyle. Melody Mike says: “The theme of this whole scary part is that God’s got this. He’s providing for us, and we’re fine.” To keep up with the Mikes, check out their blog, Big Family Tiny Life. Tiny House Nation: Family Edition airs Thursdays at 10pm on Lifetime.
