The TV special A Home for the Holidays is an annual event to raise awareness about adoption and foster care. Big name veteran artists including Miranda Lambert will perform, as will rising superstars Alessia Cara (“Here”) and Rachel Platten. Platten is best known for her 2015 hit “Fight Song” on her debut studio album Wildfire. She even won an Emmy Award for her live performance of “Fight Song” on Good Morning America.
Platten is working on her second album which she says will include songs that are “a little bit darker [than Fight Song].” The 35-year-old singer was born in New York City but raised in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. She graduated from Trinity College where she was a member of the Trinity College Trinitones, the schools’ first all-female a cappella group. Platten is married to lawyer Kevin Lazan (see cute photo below). A Home for the Holidays airs Friday, December 23 at 8pm on CBS.
